Want Chinese Chensorship?

November 8, 2008

Well this is what this add-on for firefox does. It stops people from accessing sites the Chinese Goverment deem unsutable! 😛

Check it out if you have firefox! Its free and helps you to not view the things that have been called lies by the chinese goverment.

What it does is connect to a proxy server in China.  If you try and access something that the Chinese government has blocked, You’ll be disconnected for around 15 minutes. so I advise you to download it in type into a search engine.  Something like free Tibet.  Then you’ll see what happens when you access a site that the Chinese government has blocked in China.

All of this info be useless without a link so, here is a link

I don’t have Firefox so I cannot test this.

Adobe Photoshop CS4

November 8, 2008

photoshopcs4

Whenever a new Adobe program is released particularly Photoshop, it generates a lot of blog posts and popularity.

Photoshop CS4 is no different.  However, the differences compared to CS3 are minimal.  In fact they removed some features.

if you’re thinking about purchasing it then don’t because I’m sure that will be a lots of cheap copies of CS3 on eBay and such.

In fact, I actually prefer, CS3 to the new Photoshop.  However this wouldn’t be a proper blog post without a screenshot!

photoshopcs4small

in the screenshot, you can see that Photoshop CS4 features a new interface. Well, not a new interface instead just a bit Darker.

In the below screenshot you will see Photoshop CS3

photoshopcs3small

Not much of a difference between the two! However, I prefer Photoshop CS3!

is currently on sale at around $700.  However, there will be some people selling CS3 on eBay for around $400, maybe. so I advise you keep your eyes peeled for some cheap copies of Photoshop CS3. Trust me,  It is the best image editing program, on the market!

Also, you could get around $100 back if you buy CS3 from eBay with Microsoft Live Search. so maybe you’ll be able to get it for $300, which is pretty sweet!

Online videos use more traffic than P2P networks

November 7, 2008

Aandccording to data from AT&T, online audio and video used a total of 31 percent, Web traffic using 40% and Peer to Peer networksaround 20%.

2 or 3 years ago video traffic would have used around 5% of total bandwidth where as P2P networks would have used around 50% of the total bandwidth!

so with the success of video sharing services such as YouTube have promoted streaming audio and video bandwidth.  In fact, YouTube  uses the same amount of bandwidth for its website alone as the whole web bandwidth in the year 2000!  It’s bandwidth  you if you costs a huge $1,000,000 a day

That means a third of a billion dollars a year to keep YouTube running. And it does this with very few ads on the site! 🙂

Well done YouTube!

Half of BitTorrent Staff Given The Sack

November 7, 2008

Today, BitTorrent got rid of Half its Staff (18)

Not good for the BitTorrent Staff. This is in addition to 20% of their staff being fired or sacked in August 2008

BitTorrent will also get rid of their entertainment network due to the significant competition from Apple’s iTunes service.

They’re going to focus on BitTorrent DNA which is a content delivery service that helps media and video game developers to distribute their media cheaply and easily over the Internet

Microsoft pays people to use live search

November 7, 2008

microsoftlivesearch

now I just posted an blog post on how Microsoft is offering 25% rebate when you purchase on eBay, of which you got to by using live search.

but I also discovered the fact that Microsoft is awarding people who search using Windows live search with said tickets in which you can and up to 25 a day.  These tickets can be used to get gifts and prizes.  cool huh?  Just for searching, you get free gifts, and how cool is that. They are going to allow 250,000 people to join this.

To install software that gives you the tickets.  You must have a Windows PC, which is barely surprising.  And you also must be using Internet Explorer, although Microsoft stakes in the future.  These restrictions and requirements as they called will be lifted.

However, there is already a program rewards you for searching by paying you! so this is not a new idea, which is barely surprising that comes from Microsoft!

So Microsoft must be on quest to get more people to use their search engine.  But as we all know, Google will always be the most popular, unless it starts to charging people to use it!  It would certainly be a protest demanding the Google would be free forever so  if Google knows whats good for them then they will remian free 🙂

Microsoft pays for buying things when you search with its search engine

November 7, 2008

Microsoft is offering a deal where if you search eBay on its own search engine and you buy something on eBay thing, you get 25% off purchase back from Microsoft.  It’s impressive but also has some rules you must abide by to get 25% money back.

For one, you must purchase using PayPal, which nearly as it’s basically the best form of paying people it is not that big of a deal

Unfortunately for many in the UK, like me.  This offer is not available.  It’s only available in the United States of America.

Finally the cash back limit is $200 which means you must spend $800 or less to get some cash back I think. or it could mean that you can spend as much as you want, but you only get $200 back.  probably to stop people from buying an expensive thing such as a car and then getting thousands of dollars back in cashback.

So this time, Microsoft is doing something good instead of doing something evil:)

this is probably to get more people to use their search engine and compete better against Google and Yahoo.  This will obviously cause more people to click the ads on the search results, which will make Microsoft more money.  I can see through any Internet plan:)

Microsoft also are extending this program to other online shops.  However, not as big a discount like eBay.  However, a store called footlocker.com  receives a 20% rebate when someone buy something from them by searching using Microsoft live search will receive 20% off, while actually they will have to claim that back off Microsoft, which is a downside.  This will stop most people from bothering to get the money back! Clever Microsoft 😛
